Kadaïf is a dough made essentially of flour and water, which is then stretched into very fine filaments.
These filaments are then filled with dried fruit or savoury preparations and drizzled with melted butter and an aromatic syrup, before being baked in the oven for a crisp, delicately flavoured result.
Kadaïf is also available already roasted for use as a base ingredient or to coat preparations. It adds a crunch to recipes.
Kadaïf is widely used in oriental pastries, particularly Dubai chocolate bars.
