Rhodoid is a registered trademark created in 1917 by Rhône-Poulenc. It is made from a transparent and non-combustible plastic acetate. Rhodoid is available in sheets or of various sizes. It is particularly useful for pastry and chocolate. In pastry, it will be used for bavarois and mousses to line a cake frame. These delicate preparations require lots of care, particularly during mould release, and Rhodoid helps keeping clear contours without having to use a knife. You can also use it to make chocolate decorations. You get a professional rendering. It should be used only on cold preparations because plastics can release harmful substances during cooking.

Cut the strip to the size of the cake frame. Lay it outside if the frame to take the correct measurement. Then place it inside the frame. Just add your preparation and place it in the fridge. Finally, the frame is easily removed leaving the Rhodoid around the preparation. Don't forget to remove it before enjoying your treat.
