Before starting this Confiture de Lait recipe, make sure you have organised all the necessary ingredients.
Pour the whole milk in a saucepan, then add the soft brown sugar...
...and castor sugar.
Cut the vanilla pod in half, lengthwise. Add to the preparation.
Bring to a boil.
Cook over a gentle boil for 1.5 to 2 hours...
...stirring frequently with a heat-resistant rubber spatula to make sure the preparation does not stick to the pan.
Gradually, the preparation should reduce and take on a more concentrated consistency, due to the caramelization process.
After cooking for 1.5 or 2 hours, the milk jam is ready. Remove the vanilla pod and pour the jam into glass jars. Reserve.
