Before starting our Apple Cake recipe, make sure you have organised all the necessary ingredients.
Place the soft butter and sugar in a pastry bowl.
Blanch the ingredients with a whisk.
Add the whole eggs, one at a time...
... until homogeneous.
Add the whipping cream...
... the rum...
... baking powder...
... and the flour. Combine well with a whisk.
Peel the apples...
... then core and cut into thin slices.
Grease an oven dish. I used an oil spray for an easy release of the cake.
Pour the preparation into the mould.
Arrange the apple slices...
... over the whole surface of the cake.
Sprinkle the slivered almonds on the surface.
Bake at 200°C (gas 6) for about 30 minutes.
Use a knife to check whether the centre of the cake is cooked. The blade should be dry when you take it out. Remove from the oven and leave to cool before serving. Just before serving, you can sprinkle some icing sugar over the cake.
