Ciao le sucre ! range by Aromandise offers healthy alternatives to standard refined sugar.
Xylitol is made from fermented organic corn cob. This ingredient can be used as a cold sweetener. It has the same taste and sweetness as regular sugar but with 40% fewer calories.
It has a low glycaemic index and is considered a non-digestible sugar by the bacteria that are responsible for tooth decay.
In cooking and baking, xylitol dissolves easily. However, it's important to note that its sweetness increases by 30% after cooking.
As a general guideline, 100 grams of sugar can be replaced with 100 grams of xylitol, except when cooking at temperatures above 100°C, where 100 grams of sugar can be substituted with 70 grams of xylitol.
