The predominant flavours in this bouquet garni are rosemary, thyme and bay leaf, with a touch of fenugreek, coriander and onion.
Fenugreek, a lesser-known spice, provides notes of celery, while coriander adds a light citrusy touch.
Bouquet garni is an important element in French cuisine. The aromatic plants are usually tied in a small bundle to prevent them from dispensing in soup or stock.
